David Sklansky's Fundamental Theorem: Foundation of Strategies in Texas Holdem
Strategies have a very important role to play in the players' quest to dominate and win Texas Holdem games. Throughout the years, poker experts and players have continued to search for ways upon which they can improve their skills and strategies as well as increase their chances of winning the different games that they play.
For the sake of understanding better what the different strategies in Texas Holdem poker are all about, it is but nice to look at how these strategies are founded. This will help everybody else understand the foundation upon which all the other strategies in the game have been based. According to some very reliable sources, the fundamental theorem of poker is the basis upon which the different strategies in the game have been made.
For those who may not be that familiar with the so-called fundamental theorem of poker, this is what this principle is all about. Conceptualized by poker expert David Sklansky, the theorem is basically simple and pretty much obvious. It states that players are more likely to win when they were able to do what they want to do with their hands if they know the cards of their opponents.
The second part of the fundamental theorem states that players are also most likely to incur victories if they could change the way their opponents would like to handle their cards if they know what the cards of the players are. It means that changing what the opponents would like to do is like already winning the game. The power and reality behind this fundamental theorem is so strong that it has been the basis upon which some of the most effective strategies of the Texas Holdem game were formulated.
By examining the two statements that can be found in the fundamental theorem, players can realize that playing aggressive can be used as a very good and effective strategy in Texas Holdem because it can influence and alter how the opponents would make their moves. If only players could alter how their opponents would play their hands, winning is not a very far thing from happening.
The same is also true for the element of bluffing. When players bluff, they could influence and change how their opponents would handle their cards. Because of this, winning is more achievable as the players have complete control over their opponents. As seen in these examples, the fundamental theorem of poker is indeed the very root upon which the different Texas Holdem strategies are based.
